CANADEM’s number one priority is the security and health of those deployed abroad.  For CANADEM, a successful mission is completed when our personnel is back home, in good physical and mental health.

To achieve this critical objective, preparation of the member, both physical and mental, is critical.

CANADEM therefore requires that all of its deployed personnel complete the on-line course offered by the United-Nations Department of Safety and Security (DSS).

There are two different components of this on-line course:

  1. (1)Basic Security in the Field (BSITF)
  2. (2)Advance Security in the Field (ASITF)

For personnel deploying abroad for several weeks, CANADEM requires that both components be completed.

For STOs, BSITF is mandatory.  We also recommend that those who can afford the time complete ASITF.

The process to register and follow the training is self-explanatory.  To access the UN DSS on-line training session, please use the following link.

You must register with the UNDSS with a valid email address to have access to these two courses. To proceed use the following link.
